8/21 Update
Changelog:
1. Moves divided into philosophies such as Lawful and Chaotic. No difference yet. Squad philosophy determined by leader, via new variable in JSON script.
2. Units will flash yellow twice when hit.
3. Unit Info Menu tells you which unit is the leader via red crown.
4. Lich added - 235 HP, attacks twice with Fire, low agility, heals all damage at the end of the round if still alive.
5. Apothecary added - 95 hp, heals twice with Revitalize, low agility.
6. Red crown strikes again to tell you who the leader is in battle.
7. Slowly fading popup at start with rudimentary instructions. Maybe I won't need them on the landing page anymore?
8. There are some units in the Unit Pool now, that will fit in the available squad. They are loaded in via JSON script.
9. Attack Closest tactic - Will attack unit that matches the column of the attacker, in the row of the move's preference. So it goes same Row + Column > same Row > Random. All of the enemies have been given this tactic.
10. Menu. A "Start / Restart Battle", and a "Return to Prep Room" button. I left the hotkeys in as well.
11. End Turn icon. It ends the player's turn. Hotkey still available as well.
12. Menu icon. Accesses menu same way that right click does. Wondering if I should choose one or the other, or have both.
13. Minor fixes. Tactics now set properly when an enemy initiates the fight. Refactored move selection into another script. Refactored target selection via tactics into another script. Renamed the file I'm uploading to keep track of versions on here. I'm using source control so it's not exactly necessary, but it lets me keep track of stats for analytical purposes, I guess.
Some features in backlog: A basic story. This game is supposed to serve as a prequel, so the story doesn't have to answer all the questions it raises. Scenarios for the player to overcome. Changing menus to tween onto the screen rather than appear. More fading in/out of things. Title screen. Looking into various assets. Finding music/sound effects. Various moves for Lawful/Chaotic to give strategic depth to squads. Various refactors. New tactics such as 'Attack Weak' (targets lowest Defense) and 'Attack Strong' (targets highest Strength). Unit Glossary in-game. More refactors.
Thank you to whoever tried this game out. Please provide some feedback, both in terms of bug-finding and features you'd like to see. Ogre Battle, FFT, and Suikoden II veterans especially.
